About Royal Bafokeng Stadium
At the base of the Magaliesberg Mountain Range in Rustenburg, the Royal Bafokeng Stadium was built in 1999 and later renovated for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Its seating capacity expanded from 38,000 to 42,000, with enhancements including an updated west stand, a new roof, electronic scoreboards, and upgraded lighting. As the only community-owned stadium in South Africa, it regularly hosts football, rugby, and athletics events, and is home to the Platinum Stars Football Club. The stadium also features an Olympic-sized pool, athletics track, and various sports courts, along with hospitality suites for up to 320 VIPs. Rustenburg's location makes it a prime spot for outdoor activities, while Sun City Resort and Johannesburg are within easy reach.
