Flame of Africa The Raft

Chobe River Front, Botswana

About Flame of Africa The Raft

‣ Includes: A boat transfer to and from The Raft. You’ll be served a full barbecue-style lunch, with meats, vegetables and salads and a special dessert for after. Enjoy the fully-included bar service.

‣ Enjoy: Pre-book for lunch at the floating ‘The Raft Restaurant’…surrounded by the rippled waters of the Chobe River. This venue was the brainchild of Flame of Africa’s MD Brett Mc Donald using, as he puts it, “bits n’ pieces” left over from the construction of the Chobe Water Villas nearby (for which Brett was project manager.) You’ll hear local information and experiences from your guide over lunch. While you dine you can enjoy sweeping scenes of the Chobe River. Listen as hippos honk beside you and elephant and buffalo graze nearby. Crocodiles lurk below…no swimming allowed! Across the water is Sududu Island, source of a territorial dispute between Botswana and Namibia. The matter was resolved in 1999 by a ruling (in Botswana’s favour) of the International Court of Justice. Just five square kilometres in extent, the island is game-rich in the seasons when the area is not completely submerged by usual annual floods…which were extreme in April/May, 2020.
