The Batwa Culture and Gorilla Lodge
Mount Gahinga Lodge was the first lodge built by Praveen Moman and opened in 2002. It is the perfect base to go gorilla tracking on the Ugandan side of the Virungas, track the rare golden monkey, climb a volcano, walk through local villages and most of all to share the culture of the Batwa, the oldest inhabitants of the Central African rain forest.
The charming property, inspired by traditional design and building techniques, has been re-imagined in 2019: the lounge, dining room, and gardens have been remodeled, and two new deluxe bandas have been launched.
The beautiful hand-built bandas reflect the magic of the aesthetic traditions of the Bufimbira people. Each Banda has an ensuite luxury shower room, fireplace and private porch.

Guest Bandas
• 8 unique handbuilt bandas (2 deluxe and standard) of which 6 doubles and 2 twins. All with a private veranda offering spectacular views of the Virunga volcanoes. No guide/tour leader rooms available at the lodge.
• All rooms are complete with en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilet, double vanity and shower with hot & cold running water.
• Personal butler service for all guests.
• The Gahinga Lodge Gushimisha Spa is available to every guest. All massages are complimentary and subject to booking and availability.
• Full board accommodation including all soft drinks and regular and premium alcoholic beverages including cocktails, cellar collection wines and single malt whiskies. Guests pay for French champagne only.
• Complimentary laundry service.
• Power sockets/charging facilities available in the main lodge and guest bandas. Hair dryers available in the rooms. No air conditioners.
