About Otters Haunt
Otters Haunt is located on the banks of the Vaal River in the beautiful Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. Rustic accommodations include a large guest house, a bush camp and chalets, all equipped for self-catering. Guests can look forward to an array of activities such as nature walks, hiking, river rafting and mountain biking.
We are situated within the vast and spectacular Vredefort Dome. The Dome marks the centre of the world’s oldest and largest asteroid impact crater, so big it can only be seen as a whole from space.
Being an Eco family, we decided to take our one property off the Eskom Power Grid. So therefore, our Otters Den River House, Porcupine Room and the Guineafowl Cottage are all fully powered by Solar. We also boast free WiFi throughout and have stunning riverfront views.

Otters Den House
Rooms are simply furnished. The lounge has a log fireplace, with a snooker table on the porch. A large kitchen and braai area overlooking the river. Solar power. Cooking and geysers on gas. Bring battery powered lights for late nights after 10pm.
Guineafowl Cottage
The Guinea Fowl cottage is a delightful self-contained chalet overlooking the lawns down to the river. Smart TV & Free Wi-Fi. Sofa Bed is available. Winter nights heater and electric blanket. Bring battery powered lights for late nights after 10pm.
Porcupine Room
The Porcupine room is a neat, comfy, self-contained annex to the . guest house. River view, en-suite bathroom, one double and one single bed, kitchenette on the veranda. On solar power. Bring battery power lights for late nights. Gas cooking and heater.
Cormorant Cabin
The Cormorant Cabin is perched on a koppie with braai area, attached bathroom and shower. Kitchennette on semi-enclosed veranda. Heaters. Two bedrooms, one with double bed, the other two single beds.
Bush Cabins
3 A frame cabins are rented for families and groups. Shower and toilet is separate (not ensuite). Self catering lapa with blinds and fireplace. Heater in the cabins.
