Tumbeta House

Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, South Africa

About Tumbeta House

Opened in February 2020, Tumbeta House is the newest lodge at Djuma Game Reserve and represents the ultimate safari experience. The accommodation is set in its own private fenced compound, a short drive from Vuyatela Lodge and Galago Camp.

The guest rooms are located off the main farmhouse, and the wrap-around verandah is the perfect place to enjoy early morning coffees and nightcaps. The farmhouse offers a fully-equipped, open-plan kitchen, as well as a dining and living room, and they all open out onto the landscaped gardens and bush beyond. There is also a fireplace and a cosy lounge area where guests can curl up on chillier nights.

Outside, a raised viewing deck can be found adjacent to the swimming pool, and an eye-level hide provides a unique view of the waterhole in front of the house. There is also a sleep-out deck where guests can spend the night under mosquito nets, experiencing the thrill of sleeping beneath the African stars. This is fitting considering that Tumbeta means 'secluded hideaway' in the local vernacular of the Shangaan people.
