About Festina Lente
At Festina Lente (Latin for “haste slowly”) we believe that the things that we like, that intrigue us and give us joy, are those things that are made over time with care and love.
Festina Lente, a luxurious guesthouse, is located in the northern suburb of Hurlingham in Sandton, Johannesburg … only 3 kilometers from the popular Sandton City Shopping Centre and the Sandton Gautrain Station. The property is easily accessed from William Nicol and Sandton Drive.
The family who lived here before us built the original house and stayed here for 48 years – which might be the reason we believe this sanctuary in the heart of Jo’burg has so much soul.
The crowning glory of the park-like garden, which attracts many birds and butterflies are the huge Pine Oak tree that shades the main house. Festina Lente offers a sensory experience and resonates an ambiance of old-world charm with a touch of new-world glamour.
Our wish at Festina Lente is that you will leave with the sense that some inner equilibrium has been restored.

Vin de Jour
A formal French styled unit awaits you with an original French trellis and a fireplace for pure comfort. Personal touches with treasured items makes this an inviting space to rest and relax at the ‘end of day'.
Bonjour
French baroque style characterized this unit. The interior decoration is highly ornamental and a wooden fireplace – perfect for pampering.
Afri Frans
Be our guest. Take rest and relaxation to the next level with this. Blending classic French style and ‘African chic’ to create this inspiring sanctuary. The lounge area is opulent, boasting velvet in deep red, ochre and midnight blue and furniture.
Le Homestead
Only the best. This bedroom with its spacious bathroom has a charming hunting lodge feel with a grey palette that soothes.
Botanica
Rich textures, botanical colours and an opulent atmosphere of romance entice visitors to linger longer in this gorgeous suite. Small still lifes created with elements from that era include old books, crystal lamps, classical statues and bird cages.
The Delft Penthouse
Take you on an imaginary journey with its eclectic approach in a large queen size bed (with a stunning curvy headboard which is covered in silk velvet) and a single bed (an extra for 1 child). Ideal for a couples breakaway or families with one child.
