About La Clé Lodge
The Cape Winelands is an idyllic winemaking region where the sun shines and the wine flows. At La Clé, situated on one the oldest streets in the historic village in buildings dating back over 300 years, you are perfectly placed in the centre of it all. Spread over two farms, La Clé offers a first-hand taste of what it’s like to live in a wine-producing valley.
THE LODGE
Arrive to expansive views, overlooking magnificent grounds that include paddle boats on a willow-lined dam, full-size tennis court, putt-and-chip lawn and helipad. Take your pick of five exquisitely comfortable en-suite bedrooms, where modern décor by Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs meets classic Cape Dutch charm. With food, wine and art at the centre of your experience, you can look forward to wholesome shared table meals with a South African twist, and wine-accompanied platters overlooking the vineyards. Artworks and ingredients are locally sourced, treating you to the very best of the Franschhoek valley and surrounds.
The Lodge enjoys the unique position of being on a wine farm but just 5 minutes walk from the Franschhoek main street with all of it’s wonderful restaurants.

Designed for elegant living, the two Garden Rooms are beautifully spacious with high ceilings and a seamless flow outdoors to the wisteria-covered veranda with views towards the pool and vineyards. Stroll through our peaceful gardens and vineyards, relax around the swimming pools or simply cocoon in these calm havens.
COURTYARD ROOM - Lodge: 1
Secluded yet generous, the Courtyard Room has direct access to the beautiful gardens of La Clé des Montagnes from its private patio. It also has the most luxurious bathroom in the Lodge. Choose a bicycle and ride around the village, or relax with a good read around the pool.
PETITE ROOMS - Lodge: 2
Cosy and welcoming, our two Petite Rooms upstairs under traditional thatch are just that: charming and comfortable retreats to return to after a day spent exploring Franschhoek village on foot or sampling the gourmet food and wines of the valley. Both rooms are linked by a lounge area at the top of the stairs.
