Each cottage is just a short walk from our Main Werf Area, making it easy to explore the farm. This historic cottage, built by renowned architect, Sir Herbert Baker, has been redecorated to give guests a chance to experience a piece of South African history.

Set under the imposing outline of the Simonsberg mountain, the cottage has magnificent views over the Boschendal Estate and the valley. The cottage is about 2 km from the main Werf. A large verandah, outside dining under the oaks and an eco-friendly swimming pool add to the relaxed feel of the property, which is a South African National Heritage Site.

With three bedrooms in the main house and two bedrooms, a lounge, and a kitchenette in the annex.

Please note that a 4×4 vehicle is recommended if you choose to stay at our Cow Shed. The Main Werf area is located 3.5 km from this cottage.

The Retreat is a collection of eighteen, two-bedroom two-bathroom self-catering cottages situated in a far corner of the farm with exquisite mountain views.

This secluded venue has a carefree and relaxed atmosphere and is ideal for families or groups of friends. The cottages are about 3,5 km from the main werf, guests are advised to have their own transport. Bring your mountain bike or walking shoes to explore the farm paths, mountainside trails and single track.

If you are travelling with children, The Tree House, where free range kids learn all about farm life. The fully supervised daily programme is available for accommodation guests aged 5 - 14yrs.

The venue has a state of the art indoor screening room, dining room & lounge and a variety of meeting rooms making it an ideal space for conferences, team building and strategic executive breakaways. WERF PICNICS
Join us for a relaxed afternoon picnic on our lawns featuring the best seasonal picnic baskets. Please note that our picnics will be taking a break for the winter season from 1st June to 1st October.

Our Werf picnic baskets include food made from our natural farm produce including freshly baked bread, green salads from our Werf Food Garden, free-range, handmade charcuterie cuts from the Boschendal Butchery, homemade preserves and our celebrated desserts.

Choose between a table and chair or picnic blankets and lawn chair options upon booking.

Picnics are weather dependent. Should it rain, you will have the option to change your date or enjoy your picnic basket as a takeaway.

The Tree House Playground and Pump Track are accessible from the picnic lawn for children.
