Bush House

Bush House is situated in Akany ny Nofy (the Nest of Dreams) and getting there is an adventure by itself. The journey involves an exciting boat trip through the freshwater lakes of the Canal des Pangalanes, allowing passengers to view daily village life on the banks of the river. There is all kind of ships transporting merchandise, wooden pirogues with fishermen, fields of cassava, tropical fruit plantations, fish, poultry, firewood, and charcoal. Bush House is situated on a tropical hill overlooking the freshwater lake Ampitabe. Built from local materials, the Lodge is well hidden in the forest, surrounded by wild lemurs.

Accommodation is provided by 15 bungalows, all with private facilities. A generator produces light at night (6 to 10 pm) and in the morning (6 to 8 am) while meals are prepared. A broad range of activities includes hiking trips to local Betsimisaraka Villages, sustainable tourism projects offered by Boogie's Solidarity (reforestation program, school construction, Green School projects...). The Wild Indian Ocean is not far to visit, and endemic carnivorous Pitcher Plants are easy to spot nearby.
