About Il Ngwesi Eco-Lodge
Days here move at an unhurried pace: mornings and afternoons spent watching birdlife and elephants drift past a nearby waterhole, walks through the bush with an armed Maasai guide, and lazy hours by the infinity pool with views across the valley to the Mukogodo Escarpment. For those keen to go further, cultural engagement runs deeper than a typical village stop as one of Kenya's best bases for genuine cultural immersion, thanks to being owned, managed and staffed by the Il Ngwesi Maasai community themselves. Guests can join a late-afternoon village visit and goat roast, browse locally made beadwork and basketry at the on-site craft shop, or unwind with a treatment from the lodge's small spa, run by a local therapist.
That community commitment extends well beyond the guest experience. The lodge has developed the Mukogodo Girls Empowerment Programme in partnership with Quinnipiac University, and supports a craft initiative, set up with VSO Jitolee and EU funding, that gives local women a platform to make and sell their beadwork. This work has been recognized internationally: Il Ngwesi was named Africa's Leading Eco-Lodge and took second place for social responsibility in the Eco Warrior Awards.

Banda 1: Emuny-Rhino (Prince William Room)
This exclusive room offers a queen-sized star bed and a private deck overlooking the waterhole. The most secluded of all the rooms, it is perfectly suited to honeymooners and couples seeking privacy, and is located furthest from the infinity pool. Prince William holds a long-standing personal connection to Il Ngwesi Eco-Lodge. Over the years, he has visited the lodge on several occasions for private holidays, stargazing, and in support of local conservation efforts. Banda 1 is is favorite room.

Banda 2: Oltome (connected to Banda 3)
This Banda is connected to Banda 3 by a swinging bridge, these two rooms are ideally suited to families or couples travelling together. Each enjoys a beautiful waterhole view and is furnished with a queen-sized bed and a single bed.
Banda 3 - Orgatuny (connected to Banda 2)
This Banda is connected to Banda 2 by a swinging bridge, these two rooms (Banda 2 & 3) are ideally suited to families or couples travelling together. Each enjoys a beautiful waterhole view and is furnished with a queen-sized bed and a single bed.
Room 4: Osiruwa
A secluded room with a queen-sized bed and an extra single bed, overlooking the Maroroi Valley. This room offers total privacy and best for those with mobility issues (but can walk) as the vehicle can reach up to the entrance to the room through the back door. Also, serves as a 2nd Honeymoon room but without the starbed.
Room 5: Olarro-StarBed
Closer to the infinity pool, with views over the Maroroi Valley. Features a star bed on an outdoor deck for sleeping under the stars, plus an extra single bed.
Room 6: Emara
Also close to the infinity pool with views over the Maroroi Valley. Has a queen-sized bed and a single bed.
