IL Ngwesi set the pace for Laikipia’s ecotourism and has become a role model for upcoming community eco-lodges in East Africa. This small piece of paradise, perched between peak and plain, possesses a magic which cannot fail to touch anyone who is lucky enough to experience it.
Constructed from local material the award winning Lodge can accommodate up to seventeen people in six thatched, open-plan cottages, with adjoining open air showers, positioned to ensure both fantastic views and privacy. Two of the rooms have an extended deck where beds are rolled out for a night under African stars. It has a large sitting area, a striking swimming pool with an ideal lunch venue, overlooking the waterhole.
The open bush Bandas offers unforgettable views of the vast surrounding landscape and comfort, while relaxing at the horizon pool lets guests watch wildlife come to drink at the watering hole.
