About Chale Island Resort

Specifically built with nature and the environment in mind, The Sands at Chale Island is one of the most low impact hotels in Kenya. It is spread out to offer the utmost in privacy and romance, in a setting of white beach, tropical plants, laid back island flair and Kenyan hospitality. Lying just 4 degrees south of the equator, Chale Island offers a choice of worlds that no other island can equal. Coral seas abundant with fish life, coastal forests and mangroves teaming with bird and insect life, snow white beaches offering safe warm bathing, and of course Kenya’s world famous safari parks.

The Sands has a magical spa  and a well equipped water sports and PADI diving centre.  and a selection of boat excursions. Daily one or two tank dive excursions go to a selection of dive sites both to the north and south of the island. Shallow coral reefs dropping to depths of 30 metres abound with marine life and the added highlight of frequent Whale shark sightings from November to February make this a diver’s paradise. Watersports are available on a daily programme include beach & boat snorkelling, kayaking, game fishing (half and full day), sailing.

Suite on the Rock
True escapism. Situated on its own private islet, forged by the waves of the ocean and connected to the main island by small stone bridge, the Suite On The Rock offers a complete disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Recharge and rejuvenate at one of Kenya’s most unique locations and enjoy the natural surroundings. A thatched roof soars high above the circular construction, then plunges down in the middle allowing rainwater to fall directly into a mini garden in the center of the room. A circular stairway leads one around an intricately crafted wall garden to an upstairs lounge, while the front veranda overlooks the cliff face and the sunbathing deck.se.
Overwater Suite
A first of its kind in Kenya, the Overwater Suite offers amazing views of Bird Island, Gazi Bay and the Shimba Hills. Suspended over the lapping waves of the Indian Ocean below, these Suites are the perfect place to watch the ebb and flow of the tide and the changing nature of Chale Island throughout the day. The Suite has a large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a separate the sitting room.

Main Restaurant
The Main Restaurant is situated right in front of the Chale Beach. Half board (breakfast and dinner), full board and all inclusive (unlimited local drinks 10:00 to 23:00) in the buffet restaurant with live grill station, Mediterranean, Indian and African specialties are being served!
Chapateria
The A la carte snack bar “Chapateria” offers snacks, Pizza and other dishes for clients booked on half Board. For dinner we offer a variety of a la carte dishes which are chargable.
