About Moremi Island Camp
Moremi Island Camp is proudly owned and operated by Botswana citizens – please support citizen tourism ventures in Botswana, it is the surest way to guarantee the existence and preservation of wilderness areas. To get a full appreciation of this specular region guests should spend 3 nights at Moremi Island Camp.
Moremi Island Camp is located in one of the most scenic and game rich area’s of the Moremi Game Reserve. The area is also home to the famous Godikwa Heronries offering the wildlife enthusiast a real feast for the eye. The immediate area surrounding Moremi Island Camp is characterised by large lagoons, water channels and countless islands ranging from a merge spec to very large- home to a variety of wildlife big and small. It is without a doubt one of the very best places to experience the true beauty of the Okavango Delta.
The camp is what we call an Explorer camp- a rustic camp only accommodating 12 guests, a real sense of old world charm and adventure prevails in these camps. The camp consists of a central mess tent, outside fire-pit and the 6 tents. We have specifically forgone any form of décor and thus allowing the full spectacle of nature to provide all the décor you would want for! Our impact on the environment is specifically low, as we do appreciate and understand our impact on this fragile eco-system. The accommodation tents are bow tents (2.4 meters X 2.4 meters) with basic en-suite facilities (bucket shower, basin and wc)- it is the exact same tents as used by most mobile operators in Botswana.
Activities centre on the wonder waterways of this region. We offer mokoro trips, boating and walks on the larger islands all with qualified guides. While the mokoro trips offer a almost silent way to explore the smaller channels and floodplains which boats can not reach- this will also be your best change to view the elusive Sitatunga.
