Welcome to Chinhoyi Caves
In north-central Zimbabwe, a labyrinth of limestone and dolomite caves known traditionally as Chirorodziva, "Pool of the Fallen" lie approximately eight km from the town of Chinhoyi and 128 km northwest of Harare. The caves have a rich history, having been used as a refuge by locals against rival clans in the 19th century. The caves themselves are a geological marvel, formed over millennia by dissolving rainwater. A dramatic sight is the Wonder Hole, a collapsed cavern revealing a 50-metre vertical drop to a crystal-clear, cobalt blue pool known as the Sleeping Pool. Visitors can explore the intricate cave system, which includes underground passages and caverns. Activities include guided tours, cave diving, and hiking through the surrounding Miombo woodlands.
