Welcome to Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve
The Kalinzu Central Forest Reserve is located in southwestern Uganda’s Bushenyi District and is easily accessed along the route to and from Queen Elizabeth National Park. Widely regarded as one of the best destinations for primate trekking, the reserve protects a richly biodiverse tropical forest. Kalinzu supports more than 414 tree species and provides habitat for six primate species, including chimpanzees, blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys. Birdlife is exceptional, with approximately 380 recorded species, alongside reptiles and an impressive variety of butterflies. Dense forest canopies, well-maintained trails, and guided treks allow visitors to experience this ecosystem up close. Combining accessibility, biodiversity, and rewarding wildlife encounters, Kalinzu offers an outstanding nature experience for travellers, researchers, and wildlife enthusiasts throughout the year in a peaceful, unspoilt forest setting environment.
