The show, which begins at 18:30, will take place on-stage, on the lawn below the monument.
Swart is regarded as one of the leading Afrikaans songwriters of the past twenty years. He is widely respected as a lyricist, and has released more than a hundred original compositions on CD to date. With over three thousand performances to his credit, either solo (with guitar and harmonica), or on a big stage, accompanied by his excellent band, a Valiant Swart show is a delightful experience for any audience.
The concert is held in aid of the Taalmonument’s Reading Project for the Youth.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets or they can order one from Volksmond Coffee Shop (tel. 021 863 2800 or volksmond@taalmuseum.co.za). Volksmond will be open for coffee and light refreshments.
Picnic concerts are also scheduled for 28 December (Picnic on fire), 14 January (Riku Lätti and Les Javan) and 28 January (The Rockets).
