Urgent Appeal for Water for Rescued Lion Sanctuary
We received this message from Paul Hart at the Drakenstein Lion Rescue Sanctuary and decided to pass it along to our readers.

 Dear Friends

As summer gets into full swing we are having more and more problems with our erratic water supply.

We have no municipal services and have to pump our water from a river 10km away. We need to increase our storage capacity to at least 100 000 liters. This may seem like a lot, but we use about 10 000 liters a day just to supply all of our animals with fresh water.

We need to purchase eleven 5000 liter water tanks at a total cost of R38 500. This is crucial not only for our animals, but also for combating bush fires that threaten the sanctuary. February is approaching, where temperatures normally exceed 40 deg C daily, so the faster we can achieve the target the better.

Secure online donations can be made via our website - http://www.lionrescue.org.za/donate.htm

Many thanks.

Paul Hart

PLEASE NOTE:

Drakenstein Lion Park is the only genuine lion sanctuary in the Western Cape, with the largest lion population, including rare white lions. Drakenstein Lion Park only works with reputable organisation such as the Born Free and Bridget Bardot Foundation, as well as the Campaign Against Canned Hunting and other similar animal welfare groups.

Saving one animal may not change the world, but surely for that one animal the world will change forever!

This is a wonderful sanctuary - we''ve visited many times. Every little donation will help.
