Street Party in Cradock for their 200th birthday!
The streets of one Karoo town came alive recently when Cradock’s locals took to the streets to celebrate their .

Despite the heat, hundreds of Heartlanders danced and sang under the summer sun on Tuesday 21 January  - school children , a brass band, various sports clubs, NGOs and farm workers were joined by prize goats and sheep, vintage cars, a tractor, an ox wagon and a border collie.

People lined the streets to watch as the parade which started at the showgrounds, up Church Street, into JA Calata, Voortrekker, Adderley, Victoria and then back down across the Gilfillan Bridge.

Before the parade left the showgrounds, Mayors Mxolisi Koyo and Nyameka Goniwe gave stirring speeches that were well-received by the crowd. They spoke of communities building bridges in this momentous year.

The next event to celebrate Cradock’s Bi-Centenary will be a match between the EP Kings and the Free State Cheetahs on 29 March.
