Stoep-sitting is a grand tradition in the Karoo. But recently some savvy Graaff-Reinetians have added a welcome twist – wine tasting!
The result is a Stoep Tasting weekend – 2 relaxing days of meandering from stoep to stoep in the heritage-rich town while sampling the finest boutique wines in the Western Cape.
“Local Karoosters and visitors can meet on the stoep, share a glass of wine and wander the beautiful streets of the town, making friends,” explains organiser Rose Wright of the Andries Stockenstrom Guesthouse Wine Club.
The first Stoep Tasting Weekend was held in 2014 and was such a roaring success that it will now be an annual event. The next one will be held over the last weekend in May.
