Guests can bid on a magical trip to South Africa, with return flights for two, with luxury accommodations at Tanda Tula Safari Lodge and Ten Bompas Hotel in Johannesburg. Winners of this auction prize will be treated to a private tour of Everard Read Gallery in Johannesburg.
The trip also gives guests a glimpse into the lives of the children who Starfish helps change, by visiting one of the 45 community-based organizations that Starfish supports to care for AIDS orphans.
Starfish, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in the USA this year, improves the lives of 22,000 orphaned and vulnerable children annually.
Starfish works with community-based organizations across South Africa to provide food, blankets, school uniforms, stationery, daycare, clinics, first aid kits, afterschool activities and counseling to meet the basic needs of children in their own communities.
Last year’s Starfish Gala, held at the Desmond Tutu Center in New York, was attended by over 200 people and raised more than $80,000 for AIDS orphans in South Africa.

This year Starfish aims to raise even more awareness and funding to support three additional community-based organizations in South Africa, to make a meaningful difference to those children whose lives are being ravaged by AIDS.
Nicola Atherstone, Executive Director of Starfish USA said;
“South Africa has more than 2 million AIDS orphans, but the vast majority of these children are not HIV positive. They have the potential to grow up and contribute to South African society. If these orphaned and vulnerable children are not cared for, nurtured and educated, they will become a lost generation. Instead of being overwhelmed by the magnitude of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Starfish believes that everyone can make a very real difference to the lives of these children - one child at a time.”
