Snorkeling with Seals in Hout Bay
We’ve all heard of swimming with dolphins and cage diving with sharks… but have you tried snorkeling with seals?

Now you can snorkel with seals in South Africa from Hout Bay or False Bay.

You start the day with a boat ride out to a Cape Fur seal colony and then it’s time to get in the water and enjoy the underwater acrobatics of the seals up close!

There are between several hundred to several thousands of seals in the water at any one time – but your guides will give a full safety briefing before you even get on the boat so there’s no need to be nervous!

According to the organisers:

“After entering the water, the seals will come and investigate you and may hang motionless in front of you and stare at you, or make mock charges and whiz past you almost faster than you can imagine an animal moving underwater. Sometimes they leap clear out of the water or perform incredible stunts and its easy finding yourself thinking it really is a seals life! Play until you’re tired and then lie on the rocks in the sun…”

At time of publishing this blog post the cost was R450 for snorkeling with seals. Includes guide, boat charter fee and refreshments on board. Excludes transport.
