Fairmont Zimbali Resort is delighted to announce that Dean Uren, Executive Chef, and Peter Mtshali, Sous Chef, will be joining their colleagues at the Fairmont Monte Carlo in catering the cocktail reception offered to 6 000 Monegasques during the Civil Wedding which will join H.S.H Prince Albert II and Miss Charlene Wittstock in marriage on July 1st
Three themes have been chosen to symbolise this union – the marriage of cultures, the local talent and environmental preservation. The marriage of cultures will in part be represented by food from the home countries of both the Prince and Charlene Wittstock. Dean and Peter will be in charge of the South African dishes on the menu.
Dean is no stranger to events of such grande scale, having worked for a number of fine dining establishments that includedcelebrity chef Richard Corrigan’s Searcy’s restaurant, and then became the pastry chef in Gordon Ramsay’s three-star Michelin restaurant. On his return to South Africa, he joined the Sun International Group before joining Fairmont as Executive Chef in 2009 when they took over the Zimbali Lodge in 2009. Peter is a young rising star in the South African culinary world, having previously worked at the Saxon Hotel and Mandela Rhodes Place before joining Dean’s team.
So we tip our caps to these two culinary greats, and congratulate them on this fine achievement.
