Our very own consultant Wendy was in Cape Town recently and enjoyed a night out at Richard Loring''s Supper Stage and Bistro in Sea Point...
While in Cape Town last week, we were thinking of something special to do on Wednesday evening ... something different ... when I found out about Richard''s Supper Stage and Bistro in Sea Point. Well, it simply has to be my highlight evening of the year! Whether you are new to Cape Town from abroad, or lived here all your life, having seen "Kaapse Stories from the Mother City", you will feel as if you actually walked the streets and were part of the old District Six. I actually felt as if the cast really were family!

The script is slick and clever. Guided through by ''Pa Jo'', patriach of the family and friends, takes you through stories and happenings in District Six which awakened the warmest memories of Cape Town in me, despite the sad demise of this historic part of Cape Town. As a Capetonion, you will relate spot on to their tale, at times hysterically funny! Then came the mindblowing surprises: Who would think that the car guard character could sing top class opera? And the paranoic Germandt sing such a variety of music with such amazing talent. All the familiar songs we know will have your foot tapping, until you cant help but get up and dance to them!

The audience sits around comfortably sociable tables - there is delightful interaction with the cast. And then ... the meal! A truly scrumptious 4-course Cape Buffet style banquet including all the Cape favourites and traditions: snoek pate, (the yummiest) biryani, soet patat, butternut in cream, cape malay chicken, and not forgetting the everlasting malva pudding as one of the desserts. Of course, you can order from a comprehensive wine list of Cape wines to top it all off.
We came away exhilarated and uplifted, humming tunes which we had not thought of for years, and days after, I am still reminiscing stories told at "Kaapse Stories".
This is a must in Cape Town. To find out more, visit www.richardscapetown.co.za , or you can also book at Computicket.
