REVIEWED Love, Loss and What I Wore
Guest reviewer and local Capetonian chick Marcia Joubert reviews the play Love, Loss and What I Wore, currently on in the Mother City.

I braved a particularly chilly Cape Town night and overcame a bout of laziness to go and watch Love, Loss and What I Wore at one of Camps Bay''s top attractions, Theatre on the Bay courtesy of Tops and Tales. I cannot say it wasn''t worth it.

Love, Loss and What I Wore was written by Nora and Delia Ephron based on the collection of stories by Ilene Beckermann. The stories are about our clothes, handbags, make-up and jewellery and how they inextricably form part of our experiences, our relationships, our memories and who we are. Memories of youth, love, foolishness, mistakes, happiness and loss and what was worn when it all happened are shared.

The talented cast made up of Rika Sennet, Kate Normington, Anne Power, Christel Mutombu and Sharon Spiegel Wagner, dressed by local designers Marianne Fassler and J.J. Schoeman, will have you laughing out loud again and again and at other times quietly acknowledging the more painful events in life. Love, Loss and What I Wore is the perfect excuse to ditch working overtime, the gym (like I did) or the bookclub and to grab a girlfriend to share in some experiences that all women can relate to. Arrive early and get a drink at the bar or arrive even earlier and have a meal at the theatre''s gorgeously decorated Act I Theatre Cafe.

Love, Loss and What I Wore runs until 2 July 2011.

Ps. I''ve made peace with being my handbag (go see the show to find out what I mean).
