The Cape Farmhouse is one of my fav local live music venues - it''s a little out of the way but that adds to its charm - you take the beautiful coastal drive out towards Scarborough (beyond Cape Point) then find Red Hill and the restaurant.

The weather was warm and we sat on a blanket in the sun along with the rest of the crowd that couldn''t fit in under the Bedouin tent. Some artisan beer for me and we were all set for Dan and his band by the time they started shortly before 4 pm.
Dan Patlansky is a super talented guitarist and he, along with a drummer and bassist, entertained us with some bluesy tunes, sometimes accompanied by his delicious gravelly voice. He also threw in an accoustic number or two in the course of his 2 sets. We had an excellent view of Patlansky and were amazed (along with everyone else) at his incredible finger work. It''s always a great experience to watch someone whose talent extends to genius performing live.

Patlansky peppered his songs with a few personal stories and had a genuine, fairly quiet stage presence but when he played there was nothing shy about his music!
According to his biography on the Dan Patlansky Facebook Page:
"What Dan Patlansky can do with a six-string Fender Stratocaster at the age of 29, most critically acclaimed guitarists will never quite achieve in a lifetime.
In only ten years on the music scene, Dan Patlansky is one of the busiest and most respected blues artists to ever come out of South Africa. Constant touring as a teenager, won Dan the hearts of even the most hardened blues critics"
Critics and the public alike love his style:
“Dan Patlansky is one of the most renowned and fiery blues artists in the southern hemisphere and one of the greatest I’ve ever seen.”- David Batiste Sr.” (New Orleans)
