This week, proved an exciting week for guests visiting the reserve. Combined with hot and rainy days, sightings of high profile game amazed all. On Monday the whole pride of lion including the cubs, were seen feeding on a Blue Wildebeest which they had killed earlier on in the morning.

The kill took place a mere 800m away from the Water Lodge near one of the main watering holes. The kill was finished by Tuesday morning, with the remaining scraps being consumed by Bush Pig and Black Backed Jackal.

The lion while busy feeding throughout the day, were harassed by the Breeding Herd of Elephant, Elephant Bulls and Rhinoceros, all of whom were wanting to make use of the popular watering hole. Much to their unhappiness about being chased around, a meal was had and enjoyed.

Hapoor Junior, who was born in 1958, always amazes guests. He was introduced to Pumba Private Game Reserve from the famous Addo Elephant National Park. We are proud to house one of the oldest Elephant Bulls in the Eastern Cape. He has a very calm nature about him, and the photograph provided, emphasizes this. He also has the reputed habit of drinking from the Bush Lodge main swimming pool or blocking the reception area of the Water Lodge.
