Last week we heard that a large crocodile was spotted on the Umgeni River where the annual Unlimited Dusi will soon be taking place.
Graeme Turnbill and his son, Grant, (see pic below) were practising for The Unlimited Dusi on the Umgeni river last week Thursday when they spotted the croc above Blue Lagoon in Durban, KZN.

I just received an email from Ray de Vries of Ray de Vries Sports Solutions on behalf of Cameron Mackenzie, Chairman of the organisers, Natal Canoe Club, who wrote:
"The latest is that we have asked Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife to step up their efforts in trying to catch the repiles and relocate them. The hyacinth weed was hampering their efforts as the crocs would hide under there. The organisers arranged for a 7 km block (where the crocodiles are) to be sprayed last week -- thankfully this has reduced the block to about 1 km now and we expect it to be completely gone by the time the race happens. This also gives us a better chance for the authorities to catch these crocs."
This should be of some reassurance to those of you taking part in the 2011 Dusi!

Which is probably why Julius Malema turned down the offer to participate in this year''s Duzi - insider knowledge?
