Kruger Park Safari Images
Ann Wilson recently took a trip to the Kruger National Park and agreed to share some of her images with Portfolio Travel Blog readers.

Two giraffes nose to nose...

A majestic male kudu with impressive horns.

This young male was lying on the side of the road. I had the privilege of sitting about 2m from him. He was with his brother who had moved off just before we pulled up.
He started calling to his brother in these long mournful roars. It was amazing to hear and I was surprised at how gentle it sounded.

Chacma baboons catching the morning sun.

We sat at a waterhole where a herd of about 400 buffalo came to drink and move on. This went on for about 30 minutes. Incredible to watch.

And the sun sets on another perfect day in the South African bush...

Big thanks to Ann for allowing us a glimpse into the Kruger through her lens :-)

About the Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa. It covers 18,989 square km (7,332 sq mi) and extends 350 km (217 mi) from north to south and 60 km (37 mi) from east to west. To the west and south of the Kruger National Park are the two South African provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. In the north is Zimbabwe, and to the east is Mozambique. It is now part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. The park is part of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, an area designated by the United Nations Education and Scientific Organisation (UNESCO) as an International Man and Biosphere Reserve (the "Biosphere").

Day entry (at any of the 8 main gates) to the Kruger Park is a steal at just R35 per person (those South Africans with a Wild Card gain free entry).
