Stand a chance of winning a weekend away for two at a luxurious hotel, enter the Annual Historical Challenge over the Easter weekend.
This "race against time" is open to teams of two and/or individuals.
No car is required but one could be useful; travel by train or walk or cycle to compete. This is a leisurely and fun educational event if you first plan and plot your way. Earn a bonus point or two for spotting a Southern Right Whale as believe it or not, they are already arriving back in False Bay!
The Challenge
Collect your first clues on Thursday afternoon in Muizenberg. Friday is spent planning and reading/doing searches on the internet if necessary. Meet the Course Director again on Saturday morning in Simon''s Town at 09h00 for further clues. Thereafter be available to visit historical attractions, businesses, restaurants and accommodation establishments on or close to the Main Road between Simon''s Town and Muizenberg in search of answers up until Monday. The challenge ends with a debriefing and prize giving in Muizenberg at 14h00 on Monday 13 April 2009.
Times & Venues
Thursday 9 April 2009 from 14h00 - 19h00: Registration/collect initial clues and race pack at BOMBAY ON BEACH Indian Restaurant, Atlantic Road, Muizenberg. If you can''t make it, say so - we''ll make a plan if you can''t arrange to collect. Note that you lose points for sending someone else to collect!!
Friday 10 April: Research/planning at home.
Saturday 11 April: Meet in Simon''s Town at 09h00.
Sunday 12 April: Race
Monday 13 April: Race. Meet in Muizenberg for debriefing and prize-giving.
The Prizes
Prizes are awarded to:
1. The team with the most points for correct answers.
2. The runners up (2 sets of prizes).
3. The best story teller.
4. The biggest ''chancers''.

The Clues
Example: Could you get to the meaning of historical clues such as Watergate, Stonehenge, Clairvaux and ‘La Cotte'' as they apply to the historical strip between Muizenberg and Simon''s Town? And for bonus points, match a fireplace to a chimney? And then match a gable to that chimney?
