Our off-road experience has been an unusual one with a very unique “4x4”! Our recent road trips, have taken us into adventures and explorations beyond our control. Kindred spirits, my man and I decided to explore the north coast of KZN, visiting Zululand Rhino Reserve, St Lucia and Cape Vidal.

When we took the turn for the famous exclusive 5-star Leopard Mountain Lodge, off the N2, we had no idea that there would be a stretch of 20km gravel road which we had to get through to reach the Hotel. It took us over an hour to complete 20km as we were driving a BMW M-Sport at less than 10km/h.

We were focusing more on the road than anything else when we suddenly looked up and found ourselves surrounding by springbok and impala. We joined the mid-day waterhole lookout to watch an array of animals coming down to drink around the unique waterhole setting.

Big 5 game drives take you through well stocked, unspoilt bush veld and endless rivers winding through indigenous forest, a birders paradise. Our guided walking safaris offered an intimate encounter with the African bush veld and Big 5 animals taking you to places beyond the reach of vehicles.

This was by far the most tranquil and relaxing holiday During the nightly safari drives, we came across a leopard and also a lion and lioness (getting their groove on). What an intimate sight!

#InspiredToTravel, we wish to continue up and down the coast and inland this year towards any adventure set before us, we are as ready as ever!

The hilltop location is absolutely breathtaking; you can watch vultures soar at eye-level from your private plunge pool. Game viewing is excellent, either by vehicle or on foot…we came across a cheetah feeding, while buffalo looked on and an elephant passed by, trumpeting his displeasure.
