Earthwave 2013 This Weekend
Want to watch a world record in the making while soaking up some sun? Head to Muizenberg this weekend to watch the annual Earthwave event...

The Earthwave Beach Festival is centred around the annual Guinness World Record attempt for the most surfers to ride the same wave. The current record is 110, set here in Muizies in 2009.

More than 400 local surfers from as young as seven to over 70, are expected to paddle into the gentle rollers at Surfer’s Corner at 1pm on the Sunday, many for the sixth time, to try and improve on the record they set at Earthwave four years back in what has become one of the surfing world’s biggest mass-participation events.

This event is held at Surfers Corner, Muizenberg and apart from the record attempt there is plenty of entertainment laid on including:

  • Surfing, skateboarding and paddling competitions
  • Touch rugby tournament
  • Demonstrations of innovative surfing equipment and adaptive surfing
  • Displays and talks on environmental topics
  • Beach games for youngsters
  • Awards function and after-party in the Pavilion

Contact kahunasurf@mweb.co.za for further information and see www.facebook.com/bos.earthwave for the latest details, including the full programme of events.
