Decorex Durban Report Back
Portfolio consultant Renee Vermeulen attended Decorex Durban and tells us about her experiences at the popular event.

Decorex brought some colour to Durban this past weekend.  Featuring the latest in interior décor and design trends, visitors were treated to sumptuous displays of fabrics, wallpaper, colours and inspiring ideas for the home.  As well as innovative ways of saving energy, and the planet.   Beautiful original artwork by a variety of artists gave diners something to appreciate while they snacked on local fare, while the cheerfully bold BOS Bar quenched thirsts with their organic rooibos iced tea.

Operation Man Cave was a fun feature of the show, with four sports personalities and celebrities showing off their ultimate sanctuaries filled with man-friendly accessories.  Needless to say, large flat screen TVs prevailed, with funky fridges, surfboards and the latest gadgetry.  Visitors voted for their favourite man cave by making a donation to the celebrity’s charity of choice, so all for a good cause.

A number of demonstrations kept the crowds entertained, and fed.  Ever tried blended iced coffee and banana?  Deeeelish!   Plascon had design gurus talking about the latest colour trends, and demonstrating different paint techniques to keep interiors fresh without spending a fortune.  Very helpful if you’re tired of those plain old white walls but only have a limited budget.

If you missed Decorex you can still catch the House and Garden Show from 29 June to 8 July, and Homemakers Expo from 4-7 October.
