Seeking new Travel Content Editor/Curator
We''re hiring! We''re looking for a content guru to join our team. Read on to see what it''s all about...

Portfolio is a well trusted brand for independent, discerning travellers.

Our customers seek inspiration for where to take their next trip, as well as carefully considered information to guide them to book the best accommodation.

Portfolio''s customers are looking for a little helping hand - they don''t want to wade through endless webpages and hundreds of options. They want the assurance of knowing that someone discerning like them them has done the legwork and can guide them.

They love to travel because they love to explore and meet people, taste exciting foods, see magnificent landscapes, hear new sounds and create memories. We''re in the business of facilitating this for them.

We have a lot of words and images across our platforms - website, guidebook, blog and social media - and they require someone who can shape them to inspire and inform, in a credible and clear way.

We''re not looking for a writer; rather we seek someone who is able to source and work with a team to formulate angles and strategy, and then bring together the relevant info in an easy to read manner. This info could come from writers, bloggers, web references, photo archives or a recommendation overheard at dinner.

You''ll need to be able to work quickly and make a plan. You do need to have an eye for detail (spelling mistakes aren''t cool) but not be too pedantic - you''re a fresh thinker who understands what travellers want and how to put that into words.

We personally visit all the establishments which we recommend, and our content needs to be written by people who know what they''re talking about, first-hand. So we need someone who has traveled South Africa - who has felt the approach of a thunderstorm in the Drakensberg, walked the dusty roads of a Karoo town at sunset and heard the cry of a fish eagle on safari. If you''ve travelled into neighboring countries and East Africa, even better.

Travel content these days needs to be short and easy to read, written in a straightforward but readable way. People read less and can make decisions based on a glance at a photo, so the visual side is increasingly important too.

These are some of the qualities we''re looking for;

- able to assimilate words quickly

- fast at researching information

- a make-a-plan approach

- enjoy being part of a dynamic team

- an eye for images which will work with text to convey the clearest and most inspiring messages

- experience in sourcing, briefing and editing writers

- experience in social media, most importantly Facebook

- a fresh, contemporary style that doesn''t fall back on clichés

- an understanding of travel in a digital world

If you feel you''re the person we''re looking for, please send a 1 page CV to Lauren at lauren@portfoliocollection.com. Not more than 1 page please - brevity and clarity are key attributes we''re looking for, so this is your first chance to prove your understanding of that.
