Cape Town''s WDC Delegates in Taipei
Here in the Mother City we''re all very excited for the announcement in Taipei tomorrow when we hear if Cape Town is the next World Design Capital. Our delegates are already in that city - here''s what they''ve been up to.

Ahead of the World Design Capital announcement at 06h00 on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, the Cape Town delegation arrived in Taipei this weekend.

Their visit to Taipei is not simply for the World Design Capital announcement but also to attend the 3-day IDA Congress.

The IDA Congress

The Congress is the leading international design conference, addressing issues of urbanism and design for better cities. The IDA Congress will see 3000 delegates, from 47 countries, attending this year.

The 2011 IDA Congress is being held in Asia for the first time. Taipei was selected as the 2011 Host City after an international competitive bid process. The congress is expected to attract 3,000 leading designers and a strong public sector presence from cities across the globe.

The delegation will make their way back to Cape Town at the end of the week, hopefully with the World Design Capital 2014 title.
