Calling Adventurous Travellers
Author of the highly acclaimed ''Do NOT Take this Road to El-Karama'', Chris Harvie is planning another expedition and looking for travelling companions.

We previously blogged about Chris Harvie''s fantastic read (which, for any last-minute gift seekers, will make a fabulous gift for lovers of arm chair travel, real-life adventure stories and anyone who enjoys a damn fine book).

Now Chris is looking for some fellow adventurous types to take another road less travelled.

In his own words:

"My next book will be based on a trip up the western side of Africa. We shall be travelling through Botswana via Etosha to Damaraland in Western Namibia, then through Angola, where we shall aim to stop in all eight National Parks. After cutting across the westernmost and least dodgy bits of the DRC (capital Kinshasa, formerly Zaire and the Belgian Congo) and the Republic of Congo (capital Brazzaville, formerly the French Congo), we shall bravely investigate Gabon and Cameroon in depth before travelling back through Western Zambia.

We also aim to try to reach São Tomé e Principe and a safe part of Equatorial Guinea. With all due respect to Italians reading this, who don''t feature, it will cover countries previously governed by all the major colonial powers and will give a great insight into the effect those colonists had (and still have) on the lives of their subjects as well as being slightly dangerous, occasionally terrifying and generally good fun, if very uncomfortable much of the time.

If anybody would like to come on the journey, please let me know. Bear in mind that it will not be an escorted tour by ANY means. It will be a case of every man for himself. It will be hard work, camping most nights, a lot of driving, spectacular scenery, dreadful food (but better than KFC) and awful lavatory experiences. Anybody interested should read my current book, triple the hardship and then decide. But we are seriously looking for a few people to join in.

Own vehicle essential.

No book critics permitted."

Chris can be emailed directly for details on the trip.

Hi Chris, I came across your request whilst finding more about "Stratford Castle" We have met briefly once at Rissington and have exchanged emails, how ever you never repied to my last to you when I described Rissington"s involvement in one of my Youtube clips, I digress I shall return to Africa in due course and indeed have requested info on Voluntary work in Tanzania. Last time i was alone in Southern Africa and got some great footage, My stills are very good I will send you some samples if you like I am specializing in Birds for now. Any way travelling with some one who has local knowledge sounds very interesting, only problem I see is the transport, But hiring a good off road vehicle is not beyond my means, I had a new Merc for my last visit, and filmed the herd of water buffalo through the window of a Chevy cadet ??? In Kruger, I still fell nervous when I view the way one of them looked at me. Apart from that I drove from Windhoek to Svacomund, Dune 7 onto Erongo Wilderness and thence to Mushara Lodge on the edge of Etosha and survived unscathed after being stopped for speeding , and all that with out a stamp in my passport, but thats another story, Welcome to Africa as Charlie Banks , "Capetown" stated. I hope hat yo find this, I shall give you a hint when I reply with hopefully the correct answer to the latest ,"El karama" quizz, best wishes, Tony Woods
