Tourists hoping to take the plunge at the historic bungy jump, where adrenalin seekers have been leaping off the Gouritz River bridge for 18 years, can still get their jollies with the bridge swinging option that will continue to be operational under Face Adrenalin.
A Face Adrenalin director said that while no jumping accidents have occured to date, the recent tragic death of a colleague (Lundi Tafeni who was killed in a boating accident during November''s heavy rains) had caused the company members to ''take stock''. - which resulted in the discovery of some parts of the bridge were extremely rusty.
The bridge swinging is deemed safe as it is done from the new national bridge.
Bungy jumping is still available at the world''s highest commercial bungy jump at Bloukrans in the Tsitsikamma region
It is uncertain if, or when, the repairs will be made.
