Birding Thursday - African Fish Eagle
Today in Birding Thursday we look at the 2012 Bird of the Year - which can be spotted at Umngazi River Bungalows and Spa in Port St Johns on the Wild Coast.

The following snippet comes directly from Umngazi''s latest newsletter...

DID YOU KNOW?

Each year, a Bird of the Year is chosen by BirdLife South Africa.

The Bird of the Year for 2012 is the African Fish-Eagle.

The African Fish Eagle is a large bird, and the female, at 3.2 - 3.6 kg is larger than the male, at 2 - 2.5 kg.

Its distinctive cry is, for many, evocative of the spirit or essence of Africa.

This year, our pair of Fish Eagles have once again raised their chick successfully. The three of them can be seen flying together at the present time - a wonderful sighting our sunset cruise.

The photographs are beautiful and the interesting information. My dad wishes to have the cry of the fish eagle as a ringtone en the hyperlink on this page is perfect. How can we download it to his Nokia E5 cell phone (he has no computer and I could not see how one can ''forward'' the audio clip to a mobile device)? Thank you. Rudolph
