Beer Lovers'' Weekend in Cape Town
Lovers of beer are gearing up for a massive weekend out in the Mother City as two big beer festivals vie for their attention...

Oktober Bierfest

As mentioned on a previous blog post, the world famous Oktober Bierfest is coming to South Africa (both Cape Town & Gauteng) for the first time this year - no need to head for Germany to enjoy the Frauleins and their foamy pints of goodness.

Head for the Village Green, Newlands Brewery, Cape Town this weekend from 29 September to 02 October.

You and your mates can enjoy the atmosphere of Bavaria - from decor to food to a live Oompah band - and get in the spirit by dressing up in a range of Bavarian accessories that will be available such as Fraulein outfits, dirndl’s, lederhosen, bundhosen, alpine hats and an assortment of wigs and moustaches!

Bavarian-styled beer varieties will be especially crafted by brew masters from The South African Breweries Limited

For ticket sales or more information email bookings@oktoberbierfest.co.za or visit www.oktoberbierfest.co.za.

(Coming to Montecasino from 27 - 29 October 2011)

We Love Real Beer

Those who prefer craft beer will find plenty to smile about at the Real Beer festival coming once again to the Biscuit Mill in Woodstock on Friday 30 September 2011 from 16h00 - 23h00. I was at last year''s event and can highly recommend this to all lovers of made-with-love-not-preservatives local beers.

From the event page on Facebook:

"Dedicated solely to the small, independent brewers of ''real'' beer in South Africa, the WeLoveRealBeer Craft Beer Festival is a celebration of the ever-evolving Craft Beer industry in South Africa. Support over 15 brewers, which includes a few new names (and of course none of the faceless, multi-national corporations), locally produced craft ciders, a handful of passionate foodies, and a a few new surprises."

Who says the Cape is only for wine lovers? Get out there and drink some beer this weekend!

And remember to drink responsibly and arrange a designated driver or a taxi home.
