Bathurst Country Affair 2014
The Bathurst Country Affair takes place this year from the 28th to the 30th of November 2014, and if you love fine foods and having fun, we suggest you head there!
This little historic village plays host to 7 chefs challenging one another in The Culinary Challenge which sees Kingston Farm, The Historic Pig & Whistle and Laras Eatery serving up sublime three course lunches or dinners to discerning guests.

Visiting chefs who have entered The Culinary Challenge are serving up their spoils at various historic homes around the village, including Weakley House, The Settler Cottage, The Drosdty and Kings Landing.

Winezani are once again pairing wines with all the courses so our diners can indulge in a recommended and appropriate choice of fine wine.  Guests are requested to complete a score card at the end of service and this culminates in the winner being announced.  The winning chef has bragging rights for a year and after three years of competing, this is a great honour indeed.

This year the event once again welcomes back Winezani who will be treating our visitors to a range of wine tastings.  These take place in The Pig garden as well as two outstanding galleries in the village.  A real treat indeed.

Jack Black will also be here again with three expertly brewed craft beers.  Roger of Jorgensens Distillery is also joining us again so prepare for some wicked delights!
As our exhibitors are all by invitation only we boast a varied and upmarket range of goods, from hand-made cheeses to olives, breads, pickles, pestos and so much more.

The event also plays host to some really fun and unique satelite events, The Pineapple Throwing Competition is one of the most popular events and sees throngs of people lined up to demonstrate their throwing prowess.  The annual Waitron Race is loads of fun and really tricky and makes for good spectator fun.  See our programme for other events too.

All the local businesses are open for the duration of the event and in our little village we boast a variety of amazing and beautiful shops, galleries and studios.

The Town Criers along with The Village Idiots make a point of making everyone feel uber welcome and their visit even more memorable.

There is so much on offer over the week-end and we cannot wait to welcome you to the centre of the universe.

Stay in Bathurst

Kingston Farm is situated just outside of the village of Bathurst and offers guests the opportunity to relax in rural and comfortable surroundings. There is a wealth of historical sites in the vicinity and is within easy reach of both Port Alfred and Grahamstown.

The farm, originally established in 1828, now functions as an appaloosa horse stud and the farmhouse hosts a restaurant and tea garden serving cuisine in keeping with the style and age of the buildings. The atmospheric restaurant offers a stylish and romantic experience that combines many of the nation’s and world''s best traditions using outstanding local produce. There are dams to view the abundant birdlife, golf courses nearby and several game reserves offering day-trips.
