Amazing moringa tree offers health - and sustainable jobs to locals in Limpopo

Also known as the horseradish tree, the moringa tree is being called the miracle tree around the world.
 


Mavis Mathabatha is a dedicated woman who feeds 320 school kids 2 meals a day in Tooseng, Limpopo. She read about the incredible nutritional and health benefits of the moringa plant and started planting the trees so that she could use the leaves to enrich the childrens'' meals.The leaves, which contain more vitamins and nutritional benefit that any other plant currently known, are dark green and simply chopped and added to meals.

 

Industrious Mavis started a business drying and crushing the leaves which are packed into bags that are sold right around the country. They are used to feed malnourished children and for livestock weight gain and milk production, not to mention plant growth.
