A 2 hour road trip of the Cape Peninsula with a sleeping baby on the back seat...
Guest blogger Jessy Lipperts talks about her recent day out with her little girl - and reminds us that Chapman''s Peak isn''t the only beautiful coastal drive Cape Town has to offer!

I love to drive new routes and explore different areas. When driving the classic Cape Peninsula route to Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point on a day tour, one normally  takes the same roads, M3 & Ou Kaapse Weg and Chapmans Peak Drive, mostly because of time constraints - but there’s SO MUCH MORE!!

It was very windy when we woke up in Noordhoek last Saturday so not the perfect day to go hiking with Rosie in my backpack. What to do? A little road trip of course!

From Noordhoek, the Atlantic side, we went straight over to the Indian side of the Peninsula via the M6 and you end up in Glencairn between Fish Hoek and Simonstown. We then took direction Simonstown. Before Simonstown we turn off to the right towards Scarborough via Red hill. It is a lovely winding road with beautiful look out points onto the marine harbour of Simonstown.

The road is about 11 km and you will end up in breathtaking Scarborough where the Atlantic gives you plenty of photo opportunities, simply stunning! The Atlantic coast side is completely different from the False Bay side. False Bay is warmer and has many villages like Muizenberg, great for surfing; Kalk Bay, fantastic for wonderful food and quirky shops; Fish Hoek with a super kids friendly beach and Simonstown where you can visit the penguins at Boulders Beach. LOTS to do!

Passing through the Atlantic side you will drive long stretches of deserted coastal roads overlooking white beaches. You will encounter the sleepy villages of Scarborough, Misty Cliffs. Once you get to Kommetjie, it will slowly become more ‘alive’ with shops, petrol stations and the likes.

For the first time I went into Imhoff Farm. We were meeting friends for lunch at Blue Water Cafe (www.bluewatercafe.co.za)  and I couldn’t believe that it has taken me 10 yrs to visit this place. It is absolutely gorgeous with the most delicious pizzas (and cakes, yes we had them too) ever and S

UPER kids friendly. There’s a little petting farm and upon arrival we gate crashed into 2 kiddies parties. I know where Rosie’s next party is going to be...

Stay in Fish Hoek

With its safe, family friendly beach and location close to Simonstown, Cape Point and the rest of the Southern Peninsula, Fish Hoek is a great place to base yourself for a few days - as long as you listen to the shark spotters when swimming!

A Tuscan Villa Guest House is a 4 star guest house. Enjoy the village atmosphere of Fish Hoek whilst being close to many attractions. A Tuscan Villa Guest House has beautiful mountain views,

a solar-heated pool and is a short stroll to the beach, whale watching spots, local shops and restaurants.
