2010 FIFA World Cup Tickets On Sale from Friday
And about time too! Those of us who love the Beautiful Game and have been counting down the days till the 2010 FIFA World Cup can finally register for tickets for the spectacular event from this week Friday!

We SAfricans have been allocated 15% of the total 3 million available tickets. Which may sound like plenty but I wouldn''t waste time before buying for the major matches -  these babies are sure to fly, and fast.

FIFA announced this morning that phase #1 of tickets sales will start this Friday, 20 February. But you can start applying for their tickets from today. But it''s not quite as simple as just buying yourself a ticket for any of the 64 matches...

Herewith a snippet from the FIFA.com site to explain...

From Friday until Tuesday 31 March 2009, the first ticketing sales phase for South Africa 2010 takes place. Tickets will be allocated by a random selection draw for over-subscribed matches and ticket categories. All orders will be entered into a random selection draw on 15 April 2009 at the same time regardless of whether they were submitted on the first or the last day of the first sales phase. If demand exceeds availability for a certain category or match then available tickets will be awarded randomly.

As well as individual tickets for the 64 matches, team-specific ticket series are also available for the country of your choice. These are valid for anything from three to seven games.

Head for FIFA.com to register and order your tickets on Friday.

Those SAffies without Internet Access can go to FNB branches countrywide and ask for official forms to apply for tickets.

HOW MUCH WILL TICKETS COST?

In a bid to give fans from all sectors of the community the opportunity to attend 2010 matches, FIFA has kept the lowest prices down to R140.

Average price for tickets is R973 while the creme de la creme of seats will go for R6 300.

I wish to express my deepest disappointment with the way the tickets sales are to be allocated. We are informed that tickets should be ordred, what about people in the rural areas of South Africa who don''t have the luxuries of internet & other facilities like banks, but do have the cash to buy a ticket, are they now sidelined from the world cup.Is this world cup for the rich & the privilaged? This world cup will be enjoyed by the elite who have been allocated good seats.
I wish you to have a sucessful world cup, but know that it won''t be enjoyed by the majority of the poor in our country which is bad.
