10 Days to Christmas
In keeping with our ‘10 things’ this week and as we have only 10 Days to Christmas, it seems fitting to mention 10 things you could do include everyone in this year’s festivities.

Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, the end of the year celebrations influence all. We try to spend this time of year with our friends, families and loved ones. Sunshine, decorations and time off have almost everybody’s moods buoyed.

Such good thoughts and feelings are very contagious. Smile and the world smiles with you!

And so, my list of 10 things you could do this festive season has been inspired by the Greater Good SA website. We’ve blogged about Greater Good SA before for all the wonderful initiatives they run. This Christmas is no exception.

They have set up a website called www.makechristmasmatter.co.za which gives us wonderful opportunities to give a little something extra this year.

If you are passionate about South Africa and want to be a part of improving it, you can do so without even leaving your seat. Right here, as you read this you can click on the options below. Choose a topic that interests you and follow the online instructions:

Boost Basic Health Care e.g.: Vitamins for R50

Care for Children e.g.: School uniform for R250

Improve Education e.g.:  Toys & books for R500

Enhance Livelihoods e.g.: Tools for R50

Protect the Animals e.g.: Vaccination for R50

For those who don’t celebrate Christmas but still wish to give, or perhaps you would like to look at other options, try Gifts 4 Good

They have many suggestions to choose from and you can filter your options by your favourite cause and / or to within your price range:

Topics cover Animals, Children, Education, Enterprise, Environment, Food, Health,  HIV/Aids, Housing, Land.

Examples within these include

Home-based care kits (AIDS) (R50)

Family food parcel (R100)

Water purifying kit (R200)

School fees for a year (R500)

Mobile hospital (R5000)

The Make Christmas Matter campaign has been a great success in previous years. For details of what they have been up to since 2005, view this link

And just for fun... why not Wish Upon A Star?

1 Response to 10 Days to Christmas

Kudos to you for bucking the "buy buy buy'' trend I''ve been subjected too on so many blogs during the holiday season. Of course the best thing you can do to honor the true spirit of the season is to give to those less fortunate. Bless you for reminding us of this!
