Tesselaarsdal

In the heart of the Cape Overberg, on the northern side of the Kleinrivier Mountains, lies the small village of Tesselaarsdal. Surrounded by rolling farmland and fynbos-covered slopes, it remains largely untouched by heavy tourism. The village traces its history to the early 1800s, when it developed as a farming community, and today its residents maintain a steady, rural pace of life. Art studios and small eateries have begun to appear, drawing weekend visitors from Cape Town who come to walk the trails, cycle through the hills, or enjoy the local produce. Tesselaarsdal also forms part of the Cape Country Meander route, linking it to towns such as Caledon, Botrivier, and Greyton. Together they form a network of countryside destinations rooted in the Western Cape’s quiet charm.
