Welcome to Klawer
Set in the mighty Matzikamma Mountains on the east bank of the Olifants River, just outside Vredendal and Vanrhynsdorp in the Western Cape, Klawer is a tiny settlement among vineyards and wildflowers. The village is named after a type of wild clover and falls into the southern section of the famous Cape Flower Route, which draws international visitors to see more than 4000 flower species every spring. Wine enthusiasts come here for the excellent variety of award-winning cultivars, which include organic and sulphur-free variants. Don’t miss: an array of adventure and water sports; the adventurous Boegoeberg 4 x 4 trail, with incredible photographic opportunities; and the nearby West Coast National Park, where animal lovers can see hartebeest and bontebok amongst the flowers.
