Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve

South Africa

Welcome to Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve

Located approximately 2.5 hours from Cape Town in the semi-arid Karoo region, Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve lies within a vast, rugged landscape of open plains and distant mountains. Founded in 1907 by French and Dutch settlers, the 10 000 hectare reserve was once known as the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fruit farm before transforming into a conservation area focused on rehabilitating wildlife and restoring natural habitats in 1970. The terrain is characterised by low shrubland, red earth, and hardy Karoo vegetation, providing a habitat for the Big Five and other indigenous species, including giraffe, zebra, hippo and flamingo. Game drives run throughout the year, with summer months bringing warm, dry conditions under clear skies, while winter introduces cooler temperatures and occasional rain. Guests can enjoy educational cheetah conservation tours, guided bush walks, and stargazing. Accommodation ranges from luxury lodges to eco-friendly chalets that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
