Welcome to Herbertsdale
Resting in the low areas of the Outeniqua Mountains in the enthralling Garden Route District of the Western Cape, Herbertsdale is a destination known for its spectacular natural scenery. Fynbos-covered hills stretches of bushland and stunning bodies of water offer a world of adventure. The town is wedged between no less than four nature reserves, providing a wonderland of hiking and discovery among some jaw-dropping vistas. Several famous trails and passes make their way through Herbertsdale, most notably Cloete's Pass which travels to Van Wyks’ Dorp, passing ‘ghost’ farmhouses, the Groot River, and numerous magnificently photographic locations. Other Herbertsdale drawcards include several excellent wineries, and the opportunity to go horse riding. Make sure to try the local ‘witblits’ - a kind of moonshine or poteen.
