Piet Retief

Surrounded by Bluegum and Wattle trees and lying close to the Swaziland border, Mpumalanga’s pretty town of Piet Retief is known primarily for its spectacular and prolific birdlife and features several ideal birdwatching locations as well as a fantastic bird sanctuary. Several beautiful trails wind among wetlands, rivers and mountains, offering visitors wonderful opportunities for hiking, horseriding and fishing among exquisite flora and fauna.
