Welcome to Masisi
Situated near the border of Zimbabwe, the tiny settlement of Masisi is set in the northwestern reaches of South Africa. It serves as a gateway to the world-renowned Kruger National Park, as it is located close to the Pafuri Gate - one of the most ecologically diverse areas of the park. The surrounding landscape is characterised by South African lowveld, lush riverine forests, tropical floodplains and indigenous woodlands including bushwillow. Visitors can spot a range of rare plant species and an abundance of animals such as Sharpe's grysbok, the suni antelope and massive herds of elephant and buffalo. This area is renowned as a top birding destination for bird enthusiasts, who can look forward to catching a glimpse of the Bohms Spinetails, the African finfoot and the white-crowned plover.
