Ramsgate

The seaside town of Ramsgate is situated southeast of Margate and southwest of the Mbumbazi Nature Reserve on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal. The town is known for the tranquil Trafalgar Beach, which has been awarded Blue Flag status and is ideal for leisurely afternoons of swimming and sunbathing. The Ramsgate Lagoon provides another picturesque spot for frolicking in the water, with a lovely tidal pool refreshed every morning. The winter’s migrating shoals of pilchards and sardines bring dolphins, sharks, whales, and a variety of birdlife. A variety of fantastic hikes and drive along the wild coast make for wonderful days of photography. Other highlights include traditional Zulu dancing on Sundays at the Barn Owl Arts and Crafts Centre and the famously delectable sweet and savoury waffles at the Wafflehouse.
