Welcome to Ndumo Game Reserve
Located in South Africa’s far northeast district of KwaZulu-Natal known as Maputaland, on the border with Mozambique, Ndumo Game Reserve is a birder’s paradise. Although only a fraction of the size of the Kruger Park, it is home to a similar number of birds. Ndumo’s picturesque water pans, especially the Nyamithi Pan, are surrounded by enthralling forests of fever trees. Interesting species in the reserve include the red duiker, suni (the country’s smallest antelope) and the famous ‘Big Five’. The park also features some excellent fishing spots. Part of Ndumo’s allure is its remote location, as it quite far from any big cities. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the nearby Tembe Elephant Park, home to the largest African elephants in the world and fantastic scuba diving on the nearby Tongoland reefs.
